A fraudster from Maharashtra was arrested by the UP Special Task Force (STF) at a hotel in Lucknow on Friday evening.
The accused was staying in a Lucknow hotel for the past few days to avoid arrest by the Maharashtra police, STF officials said.
In a press release issued to confirm the arrest, STF officials said the accused has been identified as Gujarat resident Madhusudan Rathi. They said the accused was wanted in a fraud case registered against him in January in Maharashtra's Thane district.
STF officials said the arrest was made outside a hotel in Vibhav Khand, Gomtinagar and subsequently handed over to the Maharashtra Police, who took the accused to Maharashtra after securing transit custody from a local court.
